Lincoln Park Chicago Real Estate

Lincoln Park has long been known as one of the most exclusive neighborhoods on Chicago’s north side. The area is home to some of the most upscale properties in the city, with the average single-family home being valued at well over one million dollars. While the neighborhood is thought of as the heart of the city’s north side and has plenty of attractions year round, it’s also a wonderful place to raise a family.

The neighborhood boasts stately brownstones and greystones, some more than a hundred years old, as well as chic new developments. It has beautiful, quiet, tree-lined streets and a family-friendly vibe. Lincoln Park is home to some of the best public and private schools in the city, including Francis W. Parker School and Lincoln Park High School, which both draw their student bodies from the surrounding neighborhood. Also located in Lincoln Park is the world-famous DePaul University, home to the Blue Demons. It has a well-deserved reputation for academic excellence, and attracts students from around the world.

There is plenty of great shopping in Lincoln Park: from the Apple store that anchors the corner at North Ave and Clybourn Ave to the countless boutiques and high-end clothiers along Armitage Avenue. There are also plenty of luxury spas, vintage stores, and great independent bookstores dotting the area.

During the warmer months, Lincoln Park is one of the hottest scenes for outdoor fun in the sun. To the east, the neighborhood is bordered by the park that bears the same name. This park is home to a world-class zoo that is free to the public, a one hundred-year-old botanical conservatory, and several museums, including the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and the Chicago Historical Society. The Park is also host to the Green City Market, one of the best farmers’ markets in town, where you can pick up fresh-cut flower and organic produce. Between the park and Lake Michigan is North Avenue Beach, one of the busiest beaches on the north side of the city. Hundreds of amateur athletes crowd the beach to play volleyball every weekend. Others race up the bike path that winds between the beach and the park. And you can always catch some action at the North Avenue Beach Chess Pavilion, where serious players vie for position against one another.

There are numerous spots for nightlife and entertainment in Lincoln Park. The neighborhood is home to Second City, the famous improv comedy club that has produced so many Saturday Night Live stars. The world-class Steppenwolf Theater is where many famous actors such as John Lithgow and Gary Sinese got their start. Victory Gardens Theater is also located in Lincoln Park; that theater group just won their first Tony Award recently. Kingston Mines is one of the best-known places to catch Chicago blues music, and Lincoln Hall hosts musical acts, author readings, as well as private events.

Lincoln Park is easily accessible by car from Lake Shore Drive to the east or I-94 to the west. The area also has plenty of public transportation: the Red Line stops underground beneath the Apple Store, and the Armitage shopping corridor is accessible via the elevated Brown Line. Numerous bus lines also make the neighborhood very easy to get to from anywhere in the city.
